No problems May 12, 2007 B. Style 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've used this unit to charge Makita 14.4V pod-style NiMH and NiCads -- so far works just fine. Normally it's best to buy something like this as part of a package -- I needed a replacement for an old 14.4 NiCad charger and this unit had the ability to charge those types as wellas the newer NiMH types.

I have a Makita 6011D drill that has seen lots use and is still a strong reliable drill. When the charger that came with it quit working, I was upset, but I rigged up a different charging device so that I could continue to use it. Before long it seemed as if the batteries were no longer able to hold a charge. When I found this charger for such a great price, I decided I had to have it. It's nice too that it will charge several different sized batteries whether stick or the newer style and NiMH batteies also. But I perfer the nicads because they can tolerate more abuse in my experience.
Batteries that I had given up on are now holding a charge after using the new charger. It has made my drill seem like a new one again. So glad I found this charger. It does a better job than the original Makita DC1290A which I assume was made in Japan. I priced one of them once, and they were quite expensive. The new one is made in China, but I have nothing but praise for it thus far.

THE CHARGER WORKS VERY GOOD I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CHARGER
THE ONE THING I DON'T LIKE IS YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG WHEN NOT CHARGING

This is a simple to use, highly effective battery charger. It is far superior to the original charger that came with the Makita drill I purchased over 11 years ago. I thought that my old Makita NiCad stick batteries could no longer hold a charge after so many years of great service. To my surprise, they are once again holding a full charge after being inserted into this replacement Makita charger. Wow. Talk about a small miracle! I'll be able to enjoy my Makita drill for many years to come. Nice. I wish I had purchased this little marvel prior to buying a replacement set of Makita NiCads - oh well, now I have four batteries!
Bottom line: If you're considering a replacement battery charger for your Makita cordless device that uses stick style batteries, look no further. Highly recommeded.

After bounce testing the charger that came in the kit, i needed a charger fast! Went to the "big boxes" and they wanted $80.00 for the same charger so i came home and searched the internet and found this. Even with FREE shipping it was at my front door in no time. I use my drill and flashlight quite often at work so i need a good charger and this is it.
