We bought some of the Milwaukee 2611 drills as new kits and like just about everything about them. There are two shortcomings, one being that the Milwaukee keyless chuck which loosens up like the Makita chucks. The other thing that I wish Milwaukee would fix is the side handle which they redesigned to attach to the side of the drill instead of around the body. This results in a setup where the handle has to be at an exact 90 degrees to the main handle and that is not always the best location.
When drilling in thick materials and using large hole saws (actually we use only Blue Boar TCT hole cutters on the job) having a side handle helps control the drill. Sometimes it is better to have the second handle straight up from the drill the way it is done for large 1/2" and 3/4" cord drills. Helps to be able to do that and this is something that is not a problem with the Bosch, Makita, or DeWalt drills which use the old approach.
Milwaukee provides the smoothest operating drill and everything is built to last. The Milwaukee carry case is easily the best provided by any manufacturer with a space for every part. The clutch adjustment provides for easy changes to the torque that can be applied and it seems to be easier to fine tune than the clutches on the DeWalt and Makita drills we use.
I do not know what really happens when drills are "reconditioned" by the manufacturers. In the case of Makita it really means nothing at all as we have bought refurb kits that had bad chargers and missing parts. Makita drills are known for having gearbox problems so a refurbished drill would be a lot riskier. With Milwaukee the reconditioned drill kits have been as good as new and a good savings.
Too soon to know if there will be a shorter life for the batteries and these not cheap to replace. Milwaukee was not very responsive when there were problems with its NiCad batteries in the past and they keep changing their lithium-ion batteries so new M18 drills only work with new M18 batteries which is a concern. I like the way DeWalt has added new drills that are backward compatible with all their batteries, even NiCads.

This is by far the best drill I've used. In the past I've used Hitachi, Dewalt, Rigid, Porter Cable(worst drill there is), and Mikita. But from now on I'm going with Milwaulkie. Especially this drill. The power is unmatched to anything I've owned. And the fact that it recon. scared me a little. Not to mention the risk of ordering online. But I have to admitt I'm impressed with the preformance of this drill. When they mean high preformance, they mean it. I use this drill every day. The batteries last long. The torque is great. I'll never go back to another brand.

They shipped right away and I had the drill two days later. Used drill until batteries died and they wouldn't recharge. Called customer service and they emailed me a prepaid return label and sent a new kit right away. The new one works just fine. Great product at a great price.
